The first meeting of the newly created Origami Club took place on Friday September 6, 2024, at the Lounge in Ortega Hall. This first event went very well, they had a turnout of around 40 students! Of the 40 people who attended the event, 20 had mathematics as a basis for their degree. These numbers include ME, EE, CE, MATH, CS, and MIS degrees.
The number of club members has increased, they are still in the process of chartering, and our Chair Professor Monika Nitsche will serve as faculty advisor for the club.
We thank undergraduate students Max Monge Vela and Jasmine Buenviaje for this exciting initiative, both making the club happen and organizing this first meeting. Max and Jasmine are Junior students in Mechanical Engineering with a passion for origami and mathematics. Max is planning to minor in mathematics.
Here are some photos of the evening.
